Some things shouldn't go on a general crew's truck. Pianos, gun safes, antiques, large appliances and heavy glass all need the right equipment and people who've moved one before.
These items get handled separately — the right dollies, straps and padding, and a crew sized for the weight.
Most specialty problems turn out to be route problems rather than weight problems. A gun safe isn't hard to lift with the right equipment; it's hard to get around a landing with a 90-degree turn. Which is why we want to see the item and the path it has to travel before we commit to a price.
Pianos are the clearest example. An upright moves on a board with straps and enough people. A grand comes partly apart — legs and lyre off, onto its side on a piano board — and putting one on a hand truck the way a general crew might is how soundboards get cracked.

Common questions
Can you move a grand piano?
Yes. Grands come partly apart — legs and lyre off, onto a piano board — which is what makes them safe to move. It isn't a job for a general crew.
Will you move a gun safe up stairs?
Often, but we need to see it first. Weight, stair construction and turn radius all matter, and some safes genuinely can't go up a particular staircase.
Can you move just the one item?
Yes. Single-item moves are common — usually a piano, a safe or an appliance.
